Privacy Policy

1. The Short Version

Releasy is a free Slack bot for release management. We care about your privacy and only collect what we need to make the service work. We don't sell your data or do anything shady with it.

2. What We Collect

From Your Slack Workspace:

  • Workspace ID and team name
  • User IDs and email addresses
  • Channel names where you use Releasy

From Your Git Provider (Bitbucket/GitHub):

  • Repository names
  • Branch names
  • Commit messages and authors
  • Pull request information

From Jira (if you connect it):

  • Board configurations
  • Ticket keys and status
  • Project information

Usage Information:

  • Which commands you use
  • When notifications are sent
  • Basic analytics (via PostHog)
  • Error logs to help fix bugs

What We DON'T Collect:

  • ❌ Your source code
  • ❌ File contents from repositories
  • ❌ Slack message contents
  • ❌ Payment information (it's free!)

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Compare branches and show pending commits
  • Send release notifications to your Slack channels
  • Match Git authors to Slack users for @mentions
  • Check Jira ticket status
  • Fix bugs and improve the service

That's it. We don't use it for advertising or anything else.

4. How We Protect Your Data

Security measures we use:

  • AES-256-GCM encryption for OAuth tokens
  • HTTPS/TLS for all data transmission
  • Slack signature verification for all webhook requests
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse

That said, no system is 100% secure. We do our best, but can't guarantee absolute security.

5. Who We Share Data With

We DO NOT sell your data. Ever.

We only share data with:

Service Providers:

  • Vercel - Hosting the application
  • PostgreSQL provider - Database storage
  • PostHog - Usage analytics

Third-Party Services You Connect:

  • Slack, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jira - according to their privacy policies

Legal Requirements:

We'll only disclose your data if required by law (subpoena, court order, etc.).

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • While you use Releasy: We keep your configuration and settings
  • Notification history: 90 days
  • After you uninstall: We delete your data within 30 days

7. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access your data - Request a copy of what we have
  • Delete your data - Uninstall Releasy and we'll delete everything
  • Disconnect integrations - Remove Bitbucket/GitHub/Jira anytime
  • Opt out of analytics - Contact us to disable PostHog tracking

8. Cookies

We use a few cookies:

  • Session cookies - Keep you logged in
  • Preference cookies - Remember your theme (light/dark)
  • Analytics cookies - PostHog usage tracking

You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features might not work.

9. International Users

Releasy is hosted in the United States. If you're using it from another country, your data will be transferred to and stored in the US.

10. Age Requirement

You must be 18+ to use Releasy. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. If we make big changes, we'll let you know through Slack or email.
